Alexandra is a superb historian with an eye for original, interesting and well-written copy. She writes fluently in the Goldilocks zone which on the one hand is supremely well-researched and fact-checked, while on the other she can phrase text for a lay reader. Her writing is informative and witty, whilst never sacrificing her academic credentials. From ancient recipes, to sports, to issues within the discipline of ancient history, to gladiators (her métier), Alexandra has consistently produced excellent articles for Working Classicists. She is personable, professional and cheerful to collaborate with. A bit of a diamond, all told.

Such a great evening listening to Alexandra Sills speaking about the ‘Women of the Roman Arena’ - It is so invigorating to listen to someone so knowledgeable and passionate about their subject, busting myths and reevaluating the roles of women attending and performing in the amphitheatre. The audience were taken on a thorough exploration of class and gender expectations and historical narratives using both literary and archaeological evidence. A fascinating and very entertaining evening!
